( do not go overboard, if necessary refer them to Sensei)5) Students must be pleasant and respectful to all other students, parents and visitors who come into our school. 6) Always respect the rights of others. 7) Students must keep up on all requirements from their previous belts. DisciplineAutomatic dismissal from Karate Arts will result from the following:1) Physical and deliberate harm to a fellow student2) Smoking in building, drug use and foul language.3) Showing disrespect to Instructors, fellow students and parents. 4) The misuse of Karate. Using Karate for something other than self-defense.5) Misrepresenting the Karate Arts Ryu.6) Habitual bad grades in school (if applicable).7) Refusing to obey the instructions from an instructor. 8) Excessive disruption of class.9) Picking on or gossiping about a fellow student. Once again, thank you for choosing our Karate program. We are pleased with the community response to our new facility and we always welcome your comments. To assist Karate Arts in maintaining its high level of satisfaction, there must be communication between parents, students and instructors To help your child develop self-control, discipline and respect, our instructors will need your full support. The Role of The Parent 1) Always refer to the instructors by their titles; ex: do not call Sensei Lee "Lee". It is disrespectful. It is important to set a good example for your children. 2) Talk to your children about Karate and share in their progress. 3) Parents must make sure that their children come to class prepared. 4) If you need to see an instructor please make an appointment, so they can give you their full attention. If your child is having problems that we can help with, let us know. We will set up an appointment with Sensei. 5) Testing is the decision of the instructors. The testing is based on the individual students capabilities. Please do not compare your child to another. Look only at the progress your child has made.6) As your child progresses, it is important to encourage their efforts in training. As their rank increases, the training becomes more challenging and sometimes they will become discouraged. It is important as parents and instructors to make the difference between a child who meets and overcomes challenges and one who merely gives up. The encouragement of your child?s efforts takes on a new significance at this time.7) Finally, one of the best approaches to helping your child with his/her training is to put on a Gi, jump right in and learn about the Martial arts first hand. Not only will you get a lot out of it, but the bonding between child and parent grows stronger. The Role of The Student 1) All Students are required to wear a clean and complete uniform. The only t-shirts that may be worn are school shirts. Come to class prepared with your belt and safety gear.2) No running in the Dojo (with the exception of class warm-ups). 3) Absolutely no talking or horseplay while waiting for your class to begin.4) Students must address the instructors by their titles; ex: Sensei Connie, Sensei Lee, etc.5) Be on time for your class.6) Help keep your Dojo clean, pick up after yourself. (that includes not dumping trash in the parking lot)7) Do not enter the Dojo floor while class is in session. Follow the red line to the waiting area and wait until class is dismissed. 8) For your safety and the safety of your classmates, please refrain from wearing jewelry during class.9) No eating or drinking in the Dojo.10) Pay respects to your Dojo by giving a courtesy bow when crossing the red line while entering and exiting the Dojo floor. Always face the Dojo area when paying your respects.
